Pitchformedia renews its homepage: cleaner… messier…

↓ Pitchformedia renews its homepage: cleaner… messier…

In terms of music reviewing PFM has been (and still is for most of us) a referent.

Many of their “independent” reviews might seem to be written by snobbish yuppies who pretend to know something about music but in fact they mostly write about their personal experiences or artists’ crap lives.

What about their homepage refresh?

To start with … I praise their new look as it offers many more white spaces: it makes it cleaner, more attractive and less tiring.

Their icon, main menu and search bar gain visibility making them a wonderful tool to find your favourite content; unfortunately that’s about all the positive feedback I can give.

On the other hand advertising has become way too important with a HUGE top banner which makes the fold to become really poor… the rest is a slight caricature of a traditional portal. The content is not as legible as it used to be (no longer those big two separated areas), iconic images and a poor colour palette make the new PFM homepage a messy experience.

It’s really a question of trends and taste: if you like minimal headlines and small fonts this is your page.

Conclusion: aesthetically beautiful, ergonomically horrible… user-friendly? Mmmmm we’ll have to get used to it.

“Tangible Worldwide” (the company behind the redesign) have done a nice but fuzzy work.

Mark: 6,5/10

(this won’t stop me from keeping reading their reviews).

See you @ Rennes

Added value…

I’ve run out of ideas today. However I encourage you to visit pitchformedia and tell me what you think about their new website.
