another bird to my collection

↓ another bird to my collection

I’ve been using Songbird for the past 6 months and it has definitely become my favourite new bird (with twitter).

This oiseau seems to be one of the nicest Webmedia players I’ve tried up to now. Customizable menus with a pretty nice / useful add-on collection (why didn’t I get to know mashtape before?) and the best is that you don’t have the “proprietary” feeling of doing something wrong with your a-legal collection of mp3s… Neither you get bombarded with ads like Qtrax, Real or iTunes.

However, in order to make it perfect I would add video support (all codecs).

A pair of days ago Songbird asked me kindly to answer a questionnaire. I said to myself… hey, how many times does iTunes, Wmp or any other media player ask for user’s opinion?

I felt so good helping them, as if I were donating or something.

It’s probably because they belong to the “open source” community. I once used Linux, then I got phagocyted by Windows again. Unfortunately I haven’t retried my old Mandrake (which doesn’t exist anymore) or Redhat. But I’ll come back I promise… as soon as the Mozilla foundation or Google release their own OS (c’mon Google we all know you’re using your own OS).

Anyway, as long as these little companies, foundations and open developer communities exist (Wikipedia, Mozilla…) we won’t feel like trapped inside Microsoft’s cage.

(Note: Mozilla is financed by another giant: Google so….).

Sorry Chrome but I still don’t get you and god knows I’ve tried very hard for several weeks. Guess I’m too old fashioned.

See you @ Rennes

added value…

objectified

Although I tend to criticize our consumer & artificial society… I’m part of it… and I also fall in love with beautiful objects.
