We may create our own arty-party social network one day, but in the meanwhile we just had a look at ARTE’s new site-building proposal: creative.arte.tv. There is a need for every artist to showcase their works on-line, and …

Here’s another powerful demonstration of why Facebook is and will be ahead of any other social attempts for many years to come. Like Apple with their iOS ecosystem, FB is THE ecosystem where to publish your casual & …

↓ Is Myspace desperate?
Personally I’ve always thought of MyS as a tool not as a social network. I once had an account (for professional purposes) and it was funny for a while trying to make buzz of our product by sending friend requests, changing our tracks or leaving “thanks for your add” messages. That was long ago.
Last Saturday I received a spam mail from MyS. How on earth they got my personal e-mail address? Who the hell is Claire? Are they really that desperate?
It was one of the first booms of social networking but as many other .com companies (ebay, yahoo, amazon..) its expiring date seems to approach. Unless they renew themselves. (wait, Amazon dying? Oh nonono).
Finding your favourite music group tour dates, exclusive tracks & photos … while being bombarded with flashy banners is a unique experience that has turned out very profitable for Mr. Chris DeWolfe & NewsCorp.
Lately they’ve been enlarging their offer with mobile, video, exclusive content & other products or capabilities in order to milk the cow … as much as they can before it’s over.
So, will it be over?
Well not on the short term, but last month MyS already slowed down a 2% with 124 unique million visitors. Facebook on the other hand won’t stop its growth rate (16,6%). Bebo, Twitter.. they all seem to steal MyS users; however none of these has proved to be profitable just yet. Facebook’s business model has been questioned several times, and just like Twitter they’re both struggling to find advertising revenues.
On the other hand there seems to be a stampede from all MyS executives. (There are rumours that their President & CEO will be leaving in October once their contract is over…).
I have to say I hate Facebook, the big brother and all that it represents (…I won’t admit I have an account). But seeing how a useful MyS dies, it just tears me apart.
So, not feeling right Myspace?
One last thing… I came up with the idea of writing this article as I received that fatidic mail plus Comscore released their monthly statistics. I got some information from the article written by David Smith (The Guardian). Today Jon Swaine from the Telegraph has published a copy-cut-and-paste version of Mr Smith. What’s wrong with the Telegraph, don’t they have their own resources?
See you @ Rennes
