Who’s the pirate?

Today the French assembly voted (luckily) NO to the Hadopi Law…

This Law would have made France become the most restrictive country in terms of antipiracy policies. Hadopi version 2.0 proposed a control over the use & access to the internet for those users who download content illegally (aka torrent).

More specifically the UMP (Sarkozy’s right winged party) proposed a double sanction for illegal perpetrators… after two letter warnings users would suffer not only a cut in their internet connexion (2 to 12 months) but the obligation to keep PAYING for their inexistent access.

So… who’s the pirate here? Obviously artists, big discographies, studios loved the idea of controlling & threatening users, smacking their lips and dreaming wildly about all the money they would regain (or not lose at least). It seems this is just a small pothole as the senate will revote the law (apparently they can’t retake the “double sanction” factor).

Also yesterday my dear Facebook has blocked Pirate Bay torrents from being shared on their “social” platform by disabling the “share on Facebook” feature implemented less than two weeks ago. They put it as “been reported as abusive by Facebook users”… c’monnnnnn.

After Facebook willing to control our lives with their privacy policy attack now this. How old are you Zuckerberg? Is Microsoft also behind this decision?

The Pirate Bay are awaiting a verdict on April 17th for “criminal copyright infringement”… watch out for Sweden, they’re also getting very picky…

Who’s next after napster, deezer, supernova, kazaa………..? The Pirate Bay

The saddest thing of all this is that people may think… when you download illegal music you kill artists’ creativity. True if these artists who lobby governments weren’t big discographies trying to come back to the 90s where burning cds “illegally” was a minor problem. After all they have to regain control of the market now that DRM is half-dead.

See you @ Rennes

added value…
