funndy Sunday nº3… tomatoes

“Tomatoes”

Pronounced Tuh-MAY-toh or Tuh-MAH-to this fruit is part of the nightshade family (like potatoes and eggplants), but they are served and prepared as a vegetable, which is why most people consider them a vegetable and not a fruit. They are extremely nutritious containing a large amount of vitamins C, A & K plus they have no cholesterol & very low fat.

More than 125 tons of tomatoes are produced in the world today with China being the largest producer, followed by the United States and Turkey.

Apparently it was the Aztecs who firstly domesticated this plant, they called it “Xitomatl”; and then Spaniards spread it around the world in the XV & XVI centuries.

“The Attack of the Killer tomatoes”

“The nation is in chaos! Panic sweeps the countryside! Vicious, man-eating Killer Tomatoes have escaped from an experimental Government program, and have embarked on a rampage of wanton destruction!”

There were 3 sequels of this B movie.

This is not the first time Msft launches an expensive campaign for their Bing “decision engine” or that they position themselves against the “information overload” you get from Google search results, but it is a first for the UK, where big G holds an even higher market share than in the States…

Most European bands (and by European we don’t mean Brits) have very little visibility outside their home-countries, even more if they don’t use the Queen’s language….. and there is so much good stuff out there….. We just received a little message from Lonski and Classen today asking if we liked their vid by by Britt Dunse…. well, what do you think?

Alberto Vasquez and Dániel Lőrincz are behind igendesign and this great “nissyoku” lamp concept for those relaxing & intimate moments / rooms. A double light “inspired by the solar eclipse”… which reminds us of Sony’s Rolly (don’t ask why).

We find Brendan Wenzel’s human illustrations are funnily enough similar to Hugo Pratt’s style… a mere coincidence that he studied at the Pratt Institute? (although it’s not related at all). He’s probably more well known for his fauna & flora illustrations…
