The Humour inside Microsoft

↓ The Humour inside Microsoft

[tweetmeme] We already knew Microsoft’s advertising campaigns were rather horrible but we woke up today discovering that it can get even worst.

A series of “Launch Parties” videos (6 in total) were uploaded to Youtube last month to show some of the tips and tricks of the brand-new “ultimate” Windows 7. Yes the substitute (solution) of the not so edgy Vista. In these videos a group of 4 musketeers launch their very own Win7 parties to explain their friends how cool and easy Microsoft’s OS has become (as if we didn’t know already…).

The worst of all is that Microsoft’s managers are probably hoping these videos will actually incite people to host OS parties… inside Redmond’s Offices this could be the latest trend but let us tell you that outside in the real world “party” is still the antonym of anything “Microsoft”-related.

Here at aqnb we’re masochistic enough to have watched those hilarious & sarcastic pieces of art several times … we’ve been trying very hard to understand the logics behind these explanatory videos… but after dozens of lost minutes we still haven’t.

The video which has done a little tour around all blogs for the past two days (and btw it’s about to get 200.000 visits so…) could be considered as the introduction to the Horrors video-Gallery created by Microsoft’s Com dept. In it those 4 musketeers incite & explain us all how to host super-fun Win7 parties. Sounds good huh?

(the original)

(and the great parody)

Trying to convince about OS parties or how-to videos for retarded people doesn’t really bother us. The problem comes when you haven’t learned after all the critics received for a similar Songsmith handicapped-campaign. We’re not in the 90s anymore ok?

If you want to launch a series of demo & preview videos you don’t use the dawn cable-tv spot format!

Take a closer look at this great campaign and you’ll notice how careful and meticulous Microsoft is for all details…

*The four Musketeers represent 4 different target groups for Microsoft: Geeks, Afro-Americans, Adults & Moderate techie users…. represented by a balanced number of men & women!

*When men throw the super-fun OS party there’s always 4 men & 2 women; the other way around if it’s women.

*A variety of Window’s chromatic range (blue, green, red, yellow) always dominate the scenarios (better with balloons!)….

*The subtle and acid humour these actors make great show of can only be compared to the number of retarded people Microsoft thinks need OS parties to be explained that something called “Windows search” can “really help us find things on our computers”.

*Looks more like a Vaio & Dell commercial (they must have signed a billionaire deal!)

* and so much more…

Unfortunately this ex-broken-monopole seems to think that the logic Google, Apple or Palm use when explaining their products and services (KISS) must be wrong. Why keeping it simple and focus on the product itself if you can twist it with poor scenarios and surrealistic situations? Once again… SO 90S!!

There are lots of rumours surrounding these vids… a subversive strategy by Google and Apple to make MS look bad…. internal videos that were leaked…. a devious marketing strategy by Ms themselves to create “the worst commercial ever so everyone talks about it”…. an upcoming Win7 web-series featuring….?

We don’t know, don’t care who “LaunchParties” Youtube user is (the one who uploaded all of these), we just think it’s a lot of money and time spent lavishly but hey, as Mr Wilde said “Better to be talked about….”.

See you @ Madrid
