The Ox moved us away from that “ugh-but-simple-to-use” blog platform called Blogger (our 3-week test laboratory) to this flexible standard called Wordpress; we initiated 2009 reviewing rocky-experimental albums, watching the Watchmen, or warning about our friendly but scary pal Google.
We’ve written about so many ideas, topics, artists, designers, animators, curators their thoughts, conceptions, products & creations we’ve lost count. But each time we see one of their works or simply talking, performing or acting aqnb feels honored for having portrayed, referenced or even talked about them.
Remember…..
…when Battlestar Galactica closed its doors early March? The epic battle between humans & Cylons came to an end; and what a last episode! Admit it, you also burst into tears!! …when Obama became the first black president, with probably the best marketing & president-branding campaign ever made? ….
This 2009 has also been the greenest & most well-intentioned year, from Dating our Planet or marching for peace…. to the Copenhagen fiasco, too many green initiatives for what? We’ll see if our diplomats manage to agree on something else than the ideas in 2010.
Geeknologically speaking 2009 was definitely Google’s year, with all those product releases and acquisitions…. Wave, Android, Admob, Chrome OS, Vevo,… oh my! Nope, Apple only updated their products … and Microsoft kept trying with cheesy & surreal campaigns & products like Bing. HTC has become a more-than-smartphone manufacturer, Yahoo hasn’t stopped closing services (and opening others, like Meme)…..
Our attractions have also been a big source of inspiration … the best way to discover new artists, places, music…. from all around the globe….
*Willy Sweeney delighted us all with this great clip for Birdie Nam Nam remixed by Justice (Frenchies)
Terri Timely decided to record Japanese kids listening to food in “Synesthesia”, Daft Punk’s Interestella 5555 finally became available on-line….. &smanymore.
*We’ve fallen in love again with the Moon, Michoacán, citysounds, Les Escales, Nollywood, The Xx, Wild Beasts, Blu, Robin F. Williams’s balloon kids, Beatle’s Rockband cinematics, Pat Perry’s tv pills, Luca Zanier’s photography, Metal on Metal, Rick Stultz’s perturbing art, Teddy bear bandits, Belgrade, Melany Diore’s works…

Courants d'air
*We wished we had more money to buy those memory boxes, Mister twisters, 4th generation Playstations, Gin Cocktail stickers, Yikebikes… &manymore.
*And we wouldn’t stop laughing and surprising ourselves with such big sites & campaigns like the Incrediblebox, Sony’s Playfaces, Halo’s 3 ODST, Quique the head, Kiwi’s DIY, …. &manymore.
So many good things, honestly we wouldn’t mind reviving 2009 again but won’t have time to moan a lot….
In just a few days CES 2010 will open its doors with many many succulent promises…. new Pre? More Android devices?…. Then Apple went “hey! Special event on January 26th” and we all went “uh-oh! The Jesus Tablet?!?!?!”. And before February is over the World Mobile Congress will take place…. Nope, we just can’t relax for a single bit!!!
LCD Soundsystem, The Strokes, Goldfrapp, BRMC, Kraftwerk, Supergrass….. will release (hopefully) new albums (and all those new bands & artists we’ll also discover…). We’ll be interviewing several artists like Alvaro Bernis or Aude Massot… traveling… reporting about all those little things all around this tiny world.
Until then… relax during this vacation period & hopefully you got (or will get) what you asked & wished for.
See you @ Bristol
